“But it’s up to you. The game doesn’t start until you say yes.”
– Colonel Trautman, Rambo (NES)
Ok, Rambo on the NES is a pretty terrible game. But this quote is just awesome. Life requires us to make a move before things happen. We often cannot control when things end, but we can have a say as to when the begin.
Sure there are times when we are forced to wait (here’s a few things you can do while stuck on life’s loading screens), but we are still accountable for taking action.
The Mindfluence Revolution Podcast mentions the idea that “Action ends dissatisfaction,” and when we take steps to pursue our dreams, we find that we are much happier – even in the face of challenge.
Personally, being stuck or stagnant is the worse state to be in.
So what are you waiting for? Get started today.
The game doesn’t start until you say yes.

Video game quotes to motivate and inspire
I’m the evil part of your brain. You can’t beat me. Because you are the one who forced me into being.
Ness’ Dream, Earthbound
Have you even been pursuing a dream or a passion, only to have someone shoot it down?
Do you ever listen the the voices that tell you things like:
“You’re not good enough”
“You’ll never make it – you should just give up”
“No one cares, why should you even try?”
“Who are you to do that? You are too… [young/old/late/stupid/poor/shy/etc]
These voices are not true, and to win a creative battle we must fight these voices… and win.
BONUS TIP: Earthbound was originally called Mother 2 in Japan. That’s a hint, guys and girls. This weekend is Mother’s Day. Do something awesome for your mom, and if you have kids, help them do something awesome for their mom.

Something lost. A part of yourself, perhaps. That which you seek, inside you will find.
Video game quotes about life and leadership – in honor of the new trailer from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
I’ve got all the time in the world…
– Popful Mail
Time is funny – it spends itself, regardless if you plan to use it or not. So how are you using your time?
Are you always in a hurry, or do you have a sense of ease?
When is the last time that you thought to yourself “I have all the time in the world?”
I personally can’t remember thinking a thought along those lines in over five years.
Then again, maybe you are waiting. Feeling stuck. If that is you, then here is what you can do in the meantime.

My past is not a memory. It’s a force at my back. It pushes and steers. I may not always like where it leads me, but like any story, the past needs resolution. What’s past is prologue.
~ Samus Aran, Metroid Other M
How does your past impact your present?
How have your past experiences shaped who you are today?
While no one wants to be a victim to the terrible or traumatic events in our own past, we must also learn to come to terms with them.
But remember: your past does not have dictate who you are today. We can change. We can overcome. We can be better.
We can choose to make a new start. We can embrace ideas like grace and mercy.
Don’t let the weight of your past hold you down.

Time flows like a river and history repeats…
Perhaps you have heard the saying “there is nothing new under the sun.”
While it seems that the next “new thing” is on everyone’s mind, it is funny how often we are just excited about another way of expressing something that is already in existence.
Life is seasonal. There are the seasons where we spend time planting – working hard, hustling to make our dreams become a reality – but then we experience hot summers or cold winter where the harvest feels so far away.
Where ever you find yourself today, remember that it is only a season.
If it is a good time, then enjoy it, but prepare and save for difficult times.
If you are in a hard season, take comfort in knowing that things may soon change, and the sun will shine again, bringing with it Spring and new life.
What season are you in now? How are you making the most of it?

Educate them. Teach them right from wrong. It must be knowledge that frees them, not force.
Altair, Assassin’s Creed
You know that saying “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make them drink?”
Just today I was listening to an episode of Dan Pink’s Podcast, where he interview the Heath brothers about their book Decisive: How to Make Better Choices in Life and Work.
During this interview, the idea came up that many individuals will resist choices being made for them, but they are less likely to resist being given a process to make a choice.
Knowledge is power. It takes away vulnerability.
It does not matter if you are buying a car, having an operation performed, or launching a business venture – vulnerability can skew your decision making. Vulnerability most feels like fear.
That’s why we research big choices. It’s why we read how many 5 Star (or 1 Star) reviews a product has on Amazon before we buy.
It’s why we don’t get married on our first date.
Of course, knowing right from wrong does not mean we will always make a good choice, but it sure helps to be informed.

Stay with me until the end.
Not until the end, always.
Tidus & Yuna, Final Fantasy X
Yup. I’m a bit of a sappy romantic. I’ll admit it, I have cried more than once while playing video games. Final Fantasy VII started it, but Final Fantasy VIII and Final Fantasy X really did it for me. The music, the story, and the atmosphere all work together in an amazing way. But I don’t want to say much more about games today, I want to talk about my wife of 12 years.
It’s hard to believe that it has already been 12 years. Then again, it is hard to remember a time before her and I were together.
In video games, “escort missions” are the worst. You usually play as a hero who is loaded up with weapons, tasked with defending a helpless computer-controlled NPC (Non-Playable Character). The AI is typically pretty bad, with the character you are responsible for protecting running right into trouble.
Just to be clear, my marriage has been nothing like that. My wife is one of the strongest women I know. I am so proud of her and her hard work as a wife, mother, student, and employee.
She’s pretty incredible.
I love you babe.
