I’m really excited to share with you an allegamy that you can use today at work, school, or in your home. This is a subtle idea but it has the potential to share the entire direction that your life takes.
In fact, a large number of video game villains have found their defeat at the hands of a hero who embodied this very trait. I’d go as far as to say that the lack of this trait is the downfall of EVERY video game villain.
You can apply this same trait in your life and find that you will experience a transformation of your own. Consistent practice can create a person that is:
- More likeable to be around
- More approachable by others
- More respected by those who know you
Are you ready for this idea?
It’s…. humility.
The best leaders have it. The best employees have it. The best organizations have it.. The best heroes have it.
While the common trait of a hero may be difficult to identify, almost every single villain demonstrates a high degree of arrogance. On Twitter, I asked the question “Name an arrogant videogame villain or hero” – here are some of the examples I received:
And the list goes on!
It’s worth pointing out that arrogance and confidence are not the same thing, but there is a fine line between the two. Arrogance is centered in pride, and typically reckless. Confidence is being self assured in a realistic way and can co-exist with humility.
Humility is not the opposite of confidence, but rather, it is as author C.S. Lewis says: “Humility does not mean you think less of yourself. It means you think of yourself less.”
