Things you might not know about me

Hi, I’m Jon,

It’s been a while since I’ve written a more personal post, so I figure now is a perfect time.

A few years ago I started ClassicallyTrained.net as a way to share two of my passions: Video Games and Personal Development (what a pairing!)

As a lifelong fan of video games and a professional with a career in Learning and Organizational Development/Human Resources, it all seems to connect for me.

In 2015, I published my book “Mastering the Game: What Video Games Can Teach Us About Success in Life” – A collection of ideas about how popular video games can be used to teach business and personal productivity skills.

The same year, I delivered a TEDx Talk to an audience of over 500 attendees, “How video games can empower real world success.

My writing and podcasting tapered off during 2019 and pretty much stopped from 2020 until just about a month ago. I’m still actively working on my second book “If Video Games Have Taught Me Anything” which features stories of many individuals of all ages and backgrounds who share a love for video games.

Look forward to more information in future posts.

Here are a few fun facts about me:

I’m a 2nd generation Native Floridian.

I work in Higher Education as the Director of Learning and Organizational Development for a private not-for-profit University.

When I’m not playing video games, I enjoy family time with my wife and son, cooking, traveling, reading, and bonsai trees.

Video games I am currently enjoying:

Elden Ring (PS5)

Grand Turismo 7 – Here is my full setup:

PlayStation  5

Gran Turismo 5 Launch Edition (PS5)

Playseat Challenge

Logitech  G923 Wheel and Pedals for PS4/PS5

Samsung QLED Q70A 4K UHD

Samsung 2.1 Channel Sound bar with Subwoofer and Wireless rear Speaker Kit

or if I want to keep things quiet, I use the RIG 500 Headset

…and Finally, I’ve been doing some original art for video game themed T shirts – you can see my designs here: https://classicallytrained.creator-spring.com/

Keep an eye on this space for sneak peeks at my next book, video game inspirational quotes, and as always, life lessons from video games!
