2015 is my year. It’s actually your year as well (in case you don’t know).
It’s time to ship.
Earlier this year I participated in Chris Brogan’s My 3 Word exercise, where participants choose three words to define their year. My words for 2015 are Share, Shift, and Ship.
Anything sound familiar about word #3?
Seth Godin’s book: What To Do When It’s Your Turn (and it’s always your turn) gave me the needed kick in the pants to make my book a reality.
In December on a live Q & A call, Seth answered my biggest question: “What do I do when I know I can do this, but I may not believe that I can do this?”
I was looking for assurance. I was looking for a sign that everything was a good.
He called me out on it.
He said “there will never be enough positive feedback to extinguish fear.”
So where did that leave me? How should I wrestle with my unbelief?
“When we do it, we believe. Not the other way around” was Seth’s answer.
If I waited for assurance, I would be here a long time. And if the perfect time ever did arrive, I would only know that it had happened once that moment passed me by. Then it would be too late.
This is the year I ship my book.
This is the year that I do my part to help other professionals and video game lovers ponder the question “Can video games teach transferable skills to real life?”
2015 is the year I make my contribution to empower the next generation of leaders to use the same attitudes and traits that made them successful while playing video games to now be successful in the professional world.
The average 21 year old has spent over 10,000 hours playing video games – Let’s make the most of that time by unpacking the lessons we have been unconsciously learning, and the skills we have been unconsciously perfecting.
Are you ready for the next level?
